Reading Culture

We believe that reading is a gateway to lifelong learning, imagination, and spiritual growth. Every page turned can open new worlds, deepen understanding, and build the skills children need to thrive academically and personally.

Why We’re Passionate About Daily Reading

We encourage every child to read at least 30 minutes at home each day because:
  • It builds strong literacy skills. Daily reading strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking.
  • It nurtures imagination. Stories allow children to explore different times, cultures, and perspectives.
  • It boosts academic success. Studies show that consistent reading practice improves performance across all subjects.
  • It shapes character. Christian literature and wholesome stories can inspire virtues such as kindness, perseverance, and faith.
  • It develops a lifelong habit. Early reading habits set the stage for a lifetime of curiosity and learning.

How Parents Can Support Their Child’s Reading Journey

Your involvement makes all the difference. Here are ways you can help:
  • Create a Reading-Friendly Environment. Set aside a quiet, comfortable space for daily reading.
  • Make it a Routine. Encourage reading at the same time each day, such as before bed or after homework.
  • Show Interest. Ask questions about the story, characters, and lessons learned.
  • Read Together. Occasionally read aloud to your child or take turns reading chapters.
  • Model Reading. Let your child see you reading; children learn by example.

Books Always at Hand

We make it easy for our pupils to build this habit. Your child will always have a reading-level-appropriate book borrowed from our school library in their book bag. Please help them take care of these books and ensure they are returned on time so others can enjoy them too.

How our Curriculum Helps

Our curriculum is carefully designed to promote both a love for reading and the skills needed to become confident, capable readers. From the earliest years, we integrate challenging high-quality literature and engaging non-fiction into every subject area, ensuring children encounter a rich variety of reading experiences. Guided reading, phonics instruction, and comprehension strategies are woven throughout lessons, while class discussions encourage deeper thinking and personal connection to texts.
Take the step of cultivating a culture of reading today, nurturing not only strong minds but also inspired hearts.
