Our Christian Studies curriculum is designed to develop three things: Bible literacy, knowledge of church history, and a strong faith and Christian consciousness.
Christian Studies
The Christian Studies curriculum divides The Golden Children’s Bible into three parts for study. Christian Studies I covers creation, the patriarchs, and the Exodus. Christian Studies II covers the rise of Israel and the period of the prophets. Christian Studies III focuses on the New Testament, covering from the Annunciation and the birth of Jesus through the vision of John in Revelation.
Lessons are based on selected readings from the Golden Children's Bible and include a list of key facts from the passage, a memory verse and comprehension questions requiring thoughtful answers.
Exercises requiring students to identify important locations on maps (included in the text) help students establish geographical familiarity with the lands of the Bible. Our curriculum is oriented to Bible knowledge, not doctrine or application. Each study also contains a number of appendices offering vocabulary building exercises, timelines, drill questions and other aids for knowledge reinforcement.
This curriculum is written with classical education in mind. It stresses memorisation, recitation, mastery of facts, and frequent review, all reflecting classical education’s grammar-stage emphasis on acquiring basic knowledge. Through our curriculum students acquire a strong foundation in understanding the Bible and the story of salvation history.
