British Values at The Light Christian School
Our commitment to promoting British Values flows naturally from our Christian ethos. We believe these values reflect key truths found in Scripture and are essential in raising pupils who are both faithful disciples of Christ and responsible citizens in modern Britain.
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs
At our school, these are taught intentionally, rooted in a biblical worldview.
Democracy: Reflecting the Image of God
We teach pupils that every person has value and dignity because they are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This understanding shapes how we involve pupils in decision-making through class discussions, student voice opportunities, and collaborative activities. We model Christ’s example of servant leadership (Mark 10:42–45) and help children understand that real leadership is about serving others, not seeking power.
The Rule of Law: God’s Justice in Action
Individual Liberty: True Freedom in Christ
We teach that true freedom is found in Christ (John 8:36). Pupils are encouraged to use their God-given gifts and make wise, responsible choices. We nurture an environment where they can explore their talents and develop their unique identity while understanding that liberty comes with responsibility to God and others (Galatians 5:13).
Mutual Respect: Loving One Another
Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs: Grace and Truth
We hold firmly to the truth of the Gospel, yet Scripture also calls us to engage others with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Pupils are taught to tolerate different cultures and beliefs while standing confidently in their Christian faith. This prepares them to live out their faith thoughtfully in a diverse society.
Our Commitment
- Grounded in biblical truth
- Confident in their identity in Christ
- Prepared to serve and lead in a diverse and changing world
At The Light Christian School, British Values are not an add-on: they are deeply integrated into our mission to equip pupils to live as salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16).
